Year 5 Henrietta, future star

Introducing Henrietta, a fantastic little tennis player aged 10.  Henny, is one of 5 Canterbury players who has been selected to represent Kent at County Cup.  This weekend on the 27 May, Henny will be representing Kent when she plays in Brighton against players from Surrey, Middlesex, & Sussex.

How old were you when you first started playing tennis?

I started playing when I was about 5 years old.  Mum and Dad revamped our court which inspired me to start the game I have grown to love.

When was your first tennis tournament?

I was about 7 or 8 when at first started match play at Polo Farm tennis club in Canterbury.  I started playing doubles when I was 8.  I prefer doubles play because of the supportive teamwork.  I especially like the encouragement I get from my partner if I make a bad shot.

Who is your tennis hero?

It has to be both Serena Williams and Roger Federer

How did you become so good and how do you get better and better?

I have great coaches and train four times a week.  I have a technical coach, a technical and hitter coach and one hitter coach.  On a Saturday I have half an hour fitness training as well.  Every term I have fitness testing so see how much I have improved with my sprinting and general fitness skills.

We’ve seen Henrietta play and she really gives her coach a good workout.  Good Luck Henny!
