Year 4 Study the British Empire

Study of The British Empire is a new addition to our history curriculum this year and Year 4 have certainly enjoyed learning about it this term.  Mahatma Gandhi was a very worthy focus of 4L’s assembly this week, with the over-riding, important messages of equality, tolerance, unity, respect, peace and the rights of every individual!  Not only did the children share their knowledge of The British Empire and of Gandhi’s life, but they performed their own scenarios, to demonstrate how we can still use Gandhi’s values to resolve difficult situations peaceably.  The children worked on their own scenarios independently, in groups and choreographed their own moves to the catchy song, ‘We’ve all got rights’, which engaged the whole school who were inspired to join in.  Well done 4L, you performed a lively, fact-filled assembly for your parents and The Upper School to enjoy!
