Computing

At St Faith’s we take the basic principles of the National Curriculum and extend them.

We teach Computing to all children.  In the Foundation Stage it is integrated into the curriculum, Year 1 and 2 have 45 minutes a week and Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have one hour a week.  Years 1- 6 are taught by Mr Dunn our Head of Computing.

Computing is taught in 4 strands:

Programming

Communicating through Multimedia

Robotics

Computer Science

Throughout these strands, we have a planned approach to Core Skills (saving work, typing), plus the hugely important E-Safety.

In your child’s time at St Faith’s they will: program in a variety of ways, including simple games and Apps; develop an understanding of robotics including sensors; take, edit and review photographs and videos; produce a website and blog; visualise and make 3D models; and develop a strong sense of responsible use of technology.
