At St Faith's we encourage leadership skills and a sense of responsibility from an early age. We believe that all pupils can work towards developing these, focusing first on leading and taking responsibility for themselves and then building towards leading and taking responsibility for others.  All classes from Year 2 up have a Form Captain, Friendship Counsellor, Eco Warrior and a representative on the School council. The class votes at the start of each term and elects the new holders of office. We aim to have as many children as possible take on one or more of these roles during their time at St Faith's in our bid to grow leadership and responsibility in our children.

In Year 6, all children have additional responsibility for some aspect of school life.  The Head Boy and Girl, together with their deputies, are appointed by the Headmaster after a lengthy process of consultation with staff and pupils. Each of the four houses chooses two prefects to lead them and many other prefects are also appointed, each with a clearly defined and valued role: Sport, Ambassador, Music, Library, Office, Kitchen, Technology and School Council. Other year 6 pupils work in teams with the prefects and are given specific responsibilities such as handing out letters or reading with a younger class on a regular basis. The children are encouraged and indeed expected to show commitment, reliability and initiative in their given roles. Termly reports are written by supervising staff which monitor their progress and show the outcome of our leadership programme.

The achievements of the Year 6 pupils in their positions of responsibility are recorded in the 'Citizenship' section of the Wishford Award.
